In Dnipro, a landfill of Christmas trees has been discovered in the Pobeda residential area. After the Christmas and New Year holidays, residents are discarding their used coniferous trees en masse, leading to the creation of spontaneous dumps. This is reported by "Vydamo" referring to "Dnipro Info".
The situation is exacerbated by the fact that some citizens, instead of utilizing the organized collection points, leave their trees in regular trash bins, overflowing them and causing additional inconveniences for municipal services. Others simply dump the trees outdoors, creating an unsightly and potentially hazardous environmental situation. One such sad sight was observed in the Pobeda residential area—a "graveyard" of old fir trees was found near the garages at 46 Heroes Avenue.
The problem is further worsened by the lack of proper public awareness regarding the disposal rules for Christmas trees. Not all residents of Dnipro are aware of the existence of designated collection points, and information about them often appears fragmented and insufficiently accessible.
The absence of a clear collection and disposal system results in a significant portion of discarded trees simply rotting, polluting the environment and adding extra burden on city services.
In the Soborny district (which includes this residential area), there are 10 specialized collection points for used Christmas trees:
