Recently, in Pavlohrad, a city in the Dnipropetrovsk region, a tank "IS-2" was dismantled, which had stood for many years on a pedestal as a monument to Joseph Kotin, the designer of heavy tanks from Pavlohrad. This was reported by "Vidomo," citing the mayor of Pavlohrad, Anatoliy Vershina.
The decision to dismantle was made as part of the decommunization law. So where will this "historical artifact" go now? Currently, the most likely option is its transfer to the Museum of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine, located in Poltava.
The mayor of Pavlohrad, Anatoliy Vershina, publicly announced that he received a request from the museum and sees no obstacles to transferring the tank. According to him, museum representatives approached the city authorities with a request to hand over the dismantled "IS-2" tank for inclusion in their collection.
In the near future, the issue of the transfer will be reviewed by the deputies of the Pavlohrad City Council.
The decision to send the tank to Poltava seems the most logical and reasonable. This museum has the necessary conditions for storing such exhibits. Museum specialists will be able to provide proper care for the tank, carry out its restoration and conservation, thereby preserving it for future generations.
