Western intelligence is raising alarms over Iran's secret diplomatic missions to Russia, which aim to assist in the development of its nuclear program and air defense systems.

According to The Sunday Times, senior advisor to Iran's Supreme Leader, Ali Larijani, is involved in the covert negotiations between Tehran and Moscow.

Particular concern arises from cooperation in missile technology and drones, where Iran plays a crucial role in supplying Russia. It is also possible that Iran could gain access to Russian nuclear facilities. Former NATO director for nuclear non-proliferation, William Alberque, notes that brief visits by Iranian scientists to such facilities could significantly advance Iran's nuclear program, including the potential development of a smaller and more sophisticated atomic bomb.

"You could send a couple of Iranian scientists to Arzamas, Penza - to any of the Russian nuclear sites - and they could learn a lot in just 24 hours. Extended working weekends would give the Iranians many ideas," he states.

Western sources indicate that Iran has also acquired the latest Su-35 fighter jets and plans to upgrade air defense systems that were destroyed by Israel. Meanwhile, an Iranian delegation is set to meet with representatives from the UK, Germany, and France, seeking to revive the nuclear agreement and lift sanctions.

Previously, Tehran declared its readiness to enrich uranium up to 60%. To create nuclear weapons, uranium enrichment of 90% purity is required. According to expert assessments, Iran is already one step away from having enough material to construct an atomic bomb.
