This was discussed by him on his blog.
“Why are these countries against it and why are they still hesitant? Is it because there is a risk of direct military confrontation with Russia? Or perhaps for other political reasons? Or maybe it’s because some of these states are openly pro-Russian and may have been corrupted by Putin and the Kremlin? Because there are such states. Look at who is opposing. Hungary, Slovakia, Luxembourg, Germany, and the USA. The publication Deutsche Welle reports that Turkey is also against it,” says Alexander Musienko.
According to him, NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte's statement that the Alliance will focus not on discussing Ukraine's membership but on how quickly and extensively support for our country can be provided, including the supply of weapons, ammunition, shells, and everything necessary for the front.
It is evident, the expert notes, that Rutte is very reluctant to activate the issue of Ukraine's membership, as this topic currently divides NATO members, clearly showing opposing approaches, where some are “against” and others are “for,” which generates conflicts. Therefore, he believes it is easier for them to discuss providing Ukraine with additional air defense systems, as this is something everyone agrees on; it pertains to defense.
“Rutte is concerned; he sees how the topic divides the Alliance, and he is also worried that NATO might fall apart before Ukraine is even accepted. Anything can happen, after all. So, essentially, this is the position, and we are waiting,” concludes Alexander Musienko.
As reported by Politeka, Musienko stated that Ukraine's allies are forcing it to continue fighting with one hand tied behind its back.
Politeka has also reported that Starikov spoke about the situation on the Eastern front: “Fierce battles are ongoing at Chasovoy Yar, in the Toretsk direction”.
