President Joe Biden's decision to allow Ukraine to use long-range missiles for strikes on Russian territory has not received the anticipated support among European leaders.

According to Bloomberg, this decision, which has sparked considerable controversy, has actually heightened internal tensions among Ukraine's allies, particularly in Germany, France, and the United Kingdom.

"On Monday, Scholz indicated that Biden's decision is insufficient to outweigh concerns about further escalation this time. The looming presence of elected President Donald Trump, who has signaled that he would withdraw support for Zelensky and alter the dynamics of the war, adds to the uncertainty," Bloomberg reports.

Similar cautious positions were expressed by representatives from France and the United Kingdom at the G20 summit in Rio de Janeiro. While French officials approved the U.S. decision, they refrained from making specific statements regarding further missile supplies to Ukraine.

"Such decisions need to be made; this is a good decision," noted the country's president, Emmanuel Macron.

At the same time, British politicians completely avoided comments on the use of the Storm Shadow missile for strikes on Russian targets, despite prior support for such supplies.

Bloomberg explains that in light of Trump's victory in the U.S. presidential elections, the situation becomes even more uncertain. Trump and his team have already expressed intentions to end the conflict and compel both sides to negotiate, which could significantly alter Washington's strategic priorities and impact European allies' support for Ukraine.
