Russia is reducing its military presence in Syria, indicating a lack of plans for significant reinforcements to support Bashar Assad's regime in the near future.

This is reported by analysts from the Institute for the Study of War. It has become known that Russia is evacuating naval forces from its base in the Syrian city of Tartus. In particular, satellite images indicate the withdrawal of all vessels from this base. Analysts suggest that these ships will not be redirected to the Black Sea due to restrictions from Turkey. Instead, Russia is likely to redirect them to its northern bases and to Kaliningrad.

These actions indicate that Russia does not plan to allocate significant resources to support its military contingent in Syria. At the same time, according to the Main Directorate of Intelligence of Ukraine, Russia has already deployed part of the African Corps to Syria, which may suggest an intention to avoid involving its main regular forces in the Syrian conflict.

ISW analysts believe that while there is a possibility of the Syrian opposition advancing south towards Hama, as well as a threat to the base in Tartus, Russia does not plan to deploy significant forces to Syria in the near future. Their assessments confirm that the main priority for Russia remains the war in Ukraine, with all strategic resources concentrated on that front.
