The President of Ukraine, Volodymyr Zelensky, responded to the statement made by the head of the Kremlin, Vladimir Putin, regarding the impossibility of negotiations.
This was reported by RBK-Ukraine, citing President Volodymyr Zelensky during a press conference with the President of Moldova, Maia Sandu.
"There are a lot of signals that the Russians are spreading about some decrees, as they call them. They are living in some sort of 1917. Decree on peace, decree on something else," he listed.
According to Zelensky, the decision of the National Security and Defense Council (NSDC) was forced, because Kremlin head Vladimir Putin began to establish numerous channels along with "separatists," along with representatives from other states to influence Ukraine, our independence, and directly on me.
"There are many negotiation processes, many shadow corridors. I stopped this. Quickly. I simply halted separatism in our state by preventing anyone in Ukraine from conducting any negotiations with Russia, with Putin's supporters during the war. This was when their troops were here, in the Kyiv region. They were trying to exert pressure through many different corridors, including our parliamentary corps, European deputies, and representatives of the USA. I just realized that we and our relevant bodies could not control this," he continued.
Therefore, according to the president, he made the decision to prohibit contacts with the Russian Federation, because only he can conduct negotiations on behalf of Ukraine.
"I understand that Putin does not like this, because he had many channels. There are channels that everyone knows about, and they also used other channels, even in some of our institutions, which I am not prepared to discuss. That is why the decision was made," he stated.
In October 2022, President Volodymyr Zelensky enacted the NSDC's decision regarding the impossibility of conducting negotiations with the President of the Russian Federation, Vladimir Putin.
Recently, Foreign Minister Andriy Sebiga stated that Ukraine has not rejected the principle of not negotiating with Vladimir Putin.
It is worth noting that recently Putin complained that Kyiv allegedly has a ban on negotiations with Russia.
