Zelensky commented on the future decisions of the U.S. House of Representatives and their impact on establishing peace.

The decisions made by the United States House of Representatives, which today re-elected Mike Johnson as Speaker, could play a pivotal role in establishing genuine peace in Ukraine in the future.

As reported by RBK-Ukraine, this was stated by Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky in his account on Twitter (X).

The head of state congratulated the 119th Congress of the United States on the commencement of its first legislative session. He also extended his congratulations to Republican representative Johnson on his election as Speaker of the House.

"The bicameral and bipartisan support of the U.S. Congress has allowed Ukraine to save thousands of lives and prevent many cities from falling into the hands of Russian occupiers," Zelensky noted.

According to him, together "with all friends of freedom in Congress, we have demonstrated that the courage of the Ukrainian people, combined with American leadership, can effectively deter Russian aggression."

Zelensky emphasized the importance of the Congress remaining "steadfast for global stability, and for both parties, along with all members who truly value freedom, to unite in defense of human and democratic values."

"Future decisions of the House could play a decisive role in establishing true and lasting peace. The Ukrainian people are deeply grateful to Congress and the American people it represents for their unwavering support," the Ukrainian president's publication states.

Zelensky also wished Johnson success "in his very important work."

Re-election of Johnson as Speaker of the U.S. House of Representatives

It was previously reported that during today's voting, Mike Johnson's candidacy was supported by only 216 members of the House of Representatives. It is worth noting that full support from Republican representatives was essential for the politician's candidacy.

Later, it became known that the House of Representatives did indeed support Johnson's candidacy for Speaker. In the re-vote, nearly all Republicans in the lower chamber of Congress cast their votes for him.

Additionally, the Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine, Ruslan Stefanchuk reacted to Johnson's re-election as Speaker of the U.S. House of Representatives. He expressed confidence that successful cooperation would help bring back the long-awaited just peace to Ukraine.
