Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky held a conversation with Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau. The discussion took place on the eve of Canada's G7 presidency.
This was reported by RBK-Ukraine citing a statement from the president.
"I thanked Prime Minister Trudeau and the Canadian people for their unwavering support, particularly the crucial defense assistance, such as NASAMS," the president stated.
He also mentioned that during their conversation, they discussed key priorities, including the strengthening of sanctions against Russia, especially concerning its propaganda networks and shadow fleet.
"I also proposed increasing funding for the production of Ukrainian weapons and exploring options for localizing the production of certain types of armaments. Close coordination with allies is extremely important to ensure a strong position for Ukraine and achieve lasting peace and security for all," emphasized the head of Ukraine.
Recall that earlier this month, the Canadian Parliament decided to allocate 764 million Canadian dollars.
It should be noted that even before this, there were discussions about Canada potentially transferring some firearms to Ukraine that it has banned domestically. The decision will involve 324 types of firearms.
Additionally, RBK-Ukraine reported that Ukraine and Canada signed an agreement on the protection of information with limited access.
