The President of Ukraine, Volodymyr Zelensky, assessed the implications of the cessation of U.S. aid. It concerns a reduction of 20%.
This was reported by RBK-Ukraine, citing a statement from President Volodymyr Zelensky during a press conference.
"Critical consequences? Imagine that aid has decreased by 20%. Draw your conclusions," he said.
The President emphasized that Ukraine still hopes for continued support.
The U.S. consistently supports Ukraine in its war against Russia. After Donald Trump took office following the November elections, there was a threat of aid being cut off.
In mid-February, Trump stated that Ukraine would continue to receive assistance. However, he pointed out that "the funds must be secured."
Following a recent sharp shift in rhetoric regarding Ukraine, especially concerning unflattering "epithets" directed at Zelensky, Trump claimed that the U.S. allegedly spent $350 billion to support Ukraine, a figure that significantly exceeds the actual amount.
In response, the Pentagon refuted Trump's claim of spending $350 billion on Ukraine. Specifically, Deutsche Welle and Newsweek note that the actual U.S. aid to Ukraine is approximately $203 billion.
