A U.S. serviceman who detonated a Tesla Cybertruck outside the entrance of the Trump International Hotel in Las Vegas on January 1, and committed suicide before the explosion, left a note. In it, 37-year-old Matthew Livelsberger stated that the explosion was not an act of terrorism, but a "wake-up call."

This was reported by RBK-Ukraine citing Associated Press.

It is known that the American soldier, who was driving the Cybertruck, shot himself in the head just before the fuel and pyrotechnics tanks, placed in the vehicle's bed, detonated. As a result of the gunshot wound, the "Green Beret" from Colorado Springs, Colorado, died in the car.

Among the charred belongings found inside the vehicle were a gun near Livelsberger's feet, another firearm, fireworks, a passport, military ID, credit cards, an iPhone, and a smartwatch. The weapons were legally obtained.

What Records the Driver-Soldier Left

The man left a text message on his mobile phone stating that he needed to "clear" his mind "of the brothers I lost and free myself from the burden of lives I've taken."

It is clarified that Livelsberger had served in the U.S. Army since 2006 and had been deployed to Afghanistan twice.

"This was not a terrorist act; it was a wake-up call. Americans only pay attention to spectacle and violence. What better way to get your point across than a stunt with fireworks and explosives?" local authorities quoted Livelsberger's notes.

As a result of the explosion, seven people sustained minor injuries, but the Trump International Hotel building itself suffered little to no structural damage.

According to American law enforcement, Livelsberger acted alone and had no accomplices.

In the man's letters, a number of topics were covered, including political grievances, social, domestic, and international issues, including the war between Russia and Ukraine. In one of the letters, Livelsberger wrote that the States are "mortally ill and heading for collapse."

According to law enforcement representatives, Livelsberger did not intend to harm newly elected President Donald Trump. In one of the notes he left, he stated that the country needed to "rally" around this politician, as well as around Tesla CEO billionaire Elon Musk.

According to Sheriff’s Assistant Dori Koren, Tesla engineers helped investigators retrieve data from the Cybertruck, including Livelsberger's route between charging stations from Colorado through New Mexico and Arizona to Las Vegas.

As AP reports, in recent years, Livelsberger confided to his ex-girlfriend, who served as an army nurse, that he had faced significant pain and exhaustion. She attributed this to a traumatic brain injury.

"The last year my personal life has been a real hell," he said in text messages to his ex-girlfriend, Arrit, in the early days of their acquaintance, which the woman shared with the Associated Press.

Also, Western media report that according to the U.S. Army, Livelsberger served not only in the U.S. Armed Forces and had two missions in Afghanistan but also served in Ukraine, Tajikistan, Georgia, and Congo.

AP adds that the man had recently returned from a foreign assignment in Germany and was on leave at the time of his death.
