In 2025, the implementation of the "Winter Support" initiative will continue. In January, another program will commence – the acceptance of applications for rental housing subsidies for internally displaced persons.
This was announced by Prime Minister Denys Shmyhal, as reported by RBK-Ukraine citing his statement during a government meeting.
"This will assist thousands of our citizens during this challenging time," he said.
Shmyhal noted that 11 million applications have already been submitted for the 1000 hryvnia payment under the "Winter eSupport" program. Over 8 million Ukrainians have already received the funds.
"In January of this year, the payment for the 'Teacher's Supplement' will also begin. Each teacher will receive an additional 1000 UAH 'in hand' each month to their salary, and starting in September, this amount will increase to 2000 UAH," the Prime Minister explained.
Shmyhal reported that the eBook initiative is also being implemented as part of the Winter Support program. "There are already over 56,000 applications from those who turned 18 in 2024," Shmyhal added.
We remind you that in December, the Ukrainian government approved new rules for providing subsidies for internally displaced persons (IDPs) for rental housing, which will take effect in January 2025.
Now, subsidies can be obtained by displaced persons who have moved to any region of Ukraine under government control. Previously, assistance was only available in nine regions.
Families that spend more than 20% of their income on rent will be eligible for subsidies (instead of the previously set 30%).
