Ukraine has seen a sharp rise in mortality rates. What is the current situation in the Dnipropetrovsk region?

In 2024, Ukraine recorded 495,090 deaths, which is 2.8 times higher than the number of registered births, totaling 176,679. This information is reported in a report on the state registration of civil status acts by the Ministry of Justice, as conveyed by "Vydomo".

It is noted that compared to 2023, the number of newborns decreased by 10,710 (5.7%), while the mortality rate only declined by 0.2% (1,150).

At the same time, in the second half of 2025, a slight positive trend was observed: the birth rate increased by 1.6% (to 89,020) compared to the first six months of the year, while the death rate decreased by 2.7% (to 244,120).

The worst indicators for the ratio of deceased to born were recorded in the Kherson and Donetsk regions, with ratios of 11 and 8.5 times, respectively. Significant excesses over the average level were observed in the Zaporizhzhia (4.7), Sumy (4.7), Kharkiv (4.5), and Chernihiv regions (4.4).

In Dnipropetrovsk region, there were 53,268 deaths compared to 14,029 births last year.

The most favorable situation was recorded in Rivne region, where the ratio is 1.6 times, as well as in Zakarpattia and Volyn (1.7), Kyiv (1.8), Chernivtsi (1.9), and Lviv regions (2).
