On the evening of Monday, January 13, President Volodymyr Zelensky imposed new sanctions against the financial sector of the Russian Federation. The sanctions affect 140 entities.
This was reported by RBK-Ukraine citing Zelensky's evening address and the website of the Office of the President.
"I signed the documents on sanctions today. A decree on the introduction of sanctions against the financial sector of Russia. 140 different entities. We will continue to work with our partners to coordinate our pressure," Zelensky stated.
According to him, sanctions are one of the most effective tools for justly pressuring Russia and all those associated with it or working in support of the war.
In decree No. 24, it is noted that the new sanctions have been imposed against both legal and natural persons involved in the economy of the Russian Federation.
In October of last year, we reported that President Volodymyr Zelensky enacted two packages of sanctions from the National Security and Defense Council against traitors of Ukraine and military production in Russia. In September, the head of state imposed sanctions against six individuals and over 40 legal entities from Russia, Iran, and China.
Additionally, on December 2, Zelensky signed a decree to expand sanctions against the Russian Federation. These sanctions target individuals and legal entities that operate within the Russian military system.
