On the evening of January 13, powerful explosions were heard in the Bryansk region of Russia. Reports online suggest an attack on a chemical plant that produces gunpowder, explosives, and solid fuel components for rocket propellant.
This information comes from RBK-Ukraine, referencing Russian ASTRA and Telegram channel run by the head of the Center for Countering Disinformation, Andrey Kovalenko.
According to online reports, it is likely that the Ukrainian Armed Forces used ATACMS missiles to strike the Bryansk Chemical Plant named after the 50th Anniversary of the USSR in the town of Seltso.
This facility has previously been targeted by Ukraine. It is part of the "Techmash" holding, which fulfills government defense orders.
As Kovalenko noted, the Bryansk Chemical Plant specializes in the production of gunpowder, solid fuel components for rocket propellant, and explosives.
It plays a crucial role in the production of artillery ammunition and missiles for the Russian army, making it one of the key components of the Russian military industry.
The head of the CPD also mentioned that explosions were reported at the "Kreml" plant in Bryansk, which had already been attacked in October. This facility produces microelectronics for missile systems, the Pantsir air defense system, Iskander missiles, as well as for radar and electronic warfare systems and Russian UAVs.
As a reminder, the chemical plant in the Bryansk region was attacked by drones in April 2024. That attack resulted in a fire in an unfinished building, while another drone penetrated the roof of a different structure.
