Deputy Minister of National Defense Pavel Zalewski anticipates an increase in provocations at the border due to the so-called "elections" in Belarus. In his view, these actions are aimed at weakening the state.
This was reported by RBK-Ukraine citing RMF24.
He emphasized that Poland has been dealing with provocations for several years, and he has no doubt that these provocations serve to undermine the cohesion of the Polish state and to test the functioning of services, as well as to interfere in political processes.
"I expect more provocations from Belarus. However, crossing our border has become more difficult today. The military is also better prepared," Zalewski added.
Let us remind you that on January 26, the Republic of Belarus held the so-called "elections" for president, where the 70-year-old dictator Alexander Lukashenko put forward his candidacy for the seventh time. He has been leading the country for over 30 years.
Poland plans to complete the construction of a wall at the border with Belarus by mid-2025. The wall is being built to stop illegal migration into the country.
Tensions between Poland and Belarus have increased following the Russian invasion of Ukraine. Warsaw accuses Minsk of deliberately controlling the flow of migrants to exert pressure on the EU, as Belarus accepts migrants and then sends them to the borders with Poland, Lithuania, and Latvia.
