Participants of "Ramstein" will focus on how to implement practical and coordinated steps to enhance Ukraine's defense capabilities both now and in the future during their meeting.
This was stated by Deputy Pentagon Press Secretary Sabrina Singh, as reported by RBK-Ukraine referencing a briefing.
Singh mentioned that on January 7, Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin will travel to Germany for the 25th meeting of the Ukraine Defense Contact Group. She noted that the minister aims to reaffirm unwavering U.S. support for Ukraine.
"Alongside defense ministers and military leaders from around the world, Minister Austin will focus on providing practical and coordinated support that will enhance Ukraine's ability to defend itself today and deter aggression in the future," she emphasized.
At the same time, the spokesperson indicated that the Pentagon will share more details about U.S. Defense Secretary's official activities in the coming days.
As a reminder, it was reported earlier today that the meeting on Ukraine's defense in the Ramstein format will take place next week.
It should be noted that the meeting was initially scheduled for October 2024 in Germany. The meeting was expected to be led by U.S. President Joe Biden, with participation from Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky. However, the in-person meeting was canceled as Biden postponed his visit to Germany due to a powerful hurricane that struck Florida.
