In the Nikopol district of the Dnipropetrovsk region, a rare phenomenon was captured on video — murmuration of birds, reports "Vydamo" referencing social media.
Murmuration occurs when species such as thrushes, snow buntings, pigeons, shorebirds, sandpipers, flamingos, geese, swans, and other types of birds gather in flocks. They then move as a single entity, creating various shapes in the air.
The murmuration of starlings is particularly impressive. Their flocks can consist of anywhere from 30,000 to 700,000 birds, performing incredibly beautiful dances. The speed of these small birds during such a dance can reach up to 40 kilometers per hour.
Many believe that this behavior helps birds deter predators, which are less likely to attack large flocks.
During murmuration, one witnesses the beautiful flight of a bird flock, striking in its coordination, amazing shapes, and unreal synchronization.
Previously, we reported that the sky was obscured by birds on the left bank of the Dnipro (VIDEO).
