In Dnipropetrovsk region, there is a positive trend regarding the incidence of acute respiratory viral infections (ARVI), including COVID-19. According to data provided by the Dnipropetrovsk Regional Center for Disease Control and Prevention of the Ministry of Health, there were 6,587 cases of ARVI reported in the region over the last week of 2024. Interestingly, a significant proportion of those infected are children: 3,106 individuals, which accounts for 47.2% of the total number of cases. Compared to the previous week, there has been a 10% decrease in the incidence rate. At the same time, during the reporting period, there were 43 cases of COVID-19 registered, among which 4 cases involved children.
Of the total number of hospitalized patients with COVID-19, 16 individuals were receiving inpatient treatment, making up 5.5% of all hospitalizations for ARVI. Unfortunately, there was one fatal case among patients over 60 years old, who, according to available data, had underlying health conditions and was not vaccinated against COVID-19.
During the week, 362 people were vaccinated against influenza, and since the beginning of the epidemic season, a total of 10,578 individuals have been vaccinated.
