A large number of animals continue to be brought to Dnipro from the combat zone. Volunteers shared the story of one dog, which, like many others, was abandoned by its owners amid the shelling, reported on the Facebook page of the Dnipro Animal Protection Society "Ark," according to "Vydomo."

The animal rights activists noted that, most likely, the people moved farther away from the war, leaving their dog chained up. They also suggested that something unfortunate may have happened to its owners, leaving the animal orphaned.

"This little dog spent a long time sitting on a bridge, walking back and forth as if waiting for its owners to come back and take it home. But then it was hit by a car... The dog disappeared for a day, and the volunteers thought it had been found and taken home. However, it likely just rested after the injury and came back into the sight of local volunteers," the publication states.

The animal advocates pointed out that a dog that has spent its entire life on a chain cannot learn to find food, hunt, and defend itself against other homeless animals with survival experience on the streets in just one day.

"When you decide to leave everything behind and try to start anew, do not abandon your animals. Reach out to shelters in big cities, look for new owners, and ask for help from volunteers.

Animals, like children, are innocent and continue to believe in their people until the very end.

"The life of this little dog hangs by a thread. Now it is not the indifferent owners but rather other people – like us – who are trying to restore its life," the shelter reported.

The dog, named Boss by the volunteers, has a fractured pelvis. Currently, it is suffering from extensive tissue necrosis, with excrement leaking from its wounds, and it is unable to urinate on its own. The treatment of its severe injuries is complicated by its aggression. The dog arrived in critical condition and was taken directly to the clinic after evacuation.
