In Dnipro, a park named after Mikhail Korenevsky will be established on Naberezhna Pobedy Street, near the Institute of Physical Culture. This was announced by Dnipro's mayor, Boris Filatov, and the corresponding draft decision has been published on the Dnipro City Council's website, as reported by "Vidomo".
Filatov noted that the deputies will vote on this decision during the city council session on January 29.
"We searched for a solution that would satisfy everyone. Therefore, a park named after Mikhail Korenevsky will be created in the city. Our esteemed boxing coach, known far beyond Dnipro, taught hundreds of children and had many plans for life. Tragically, he lost his life due to a Russian missile along with over forty of his neighbors," – he wrote on social media.
It is known that the honored coach of Ukraine in boxing, Mikhail Korenevsky, died during a Russian attack on Dnipro on January 14, 2023. A missile struck residential building No. 118 on the Pobeda housing estate. At that time, the coach was at home while his wife and children were out for a walk.
