The consumer sentiment index for Ukrainians increased by 0.4 points in December 2024, reaching 71.1 points. Ukrainians are more concerned about rising prices and the strengthening of the dollar.

This is reported by RBK-Ukraine, citing data from a monthly survey conducted by Info Sapiens.

The current situation index has decreased to 51.5 points, which is 1.2 points lower than its level in November. The economic expectations index rose by 1.4 points in December, reaching 84.2 points.

In December, the expected unemployment dynamics index increased by 1.9 points, totaling 120.9 points. The inflation expectations index rose by 0.8 points, reaching 189.5 points. The devaluation expectations index increased by 1.5 points, amounting to 168.5 points.

"The end of 2024 came without significant surprises or changes in consumer sentiments among the population of Ukraine. Both the current situation and economic expectations did not show significant changes compared to November. The year 2024 was characterized by high volatility of indices, but overall, the level of consumer confidence at the beginning and end of the year did not differ significantly," comment analysts from Info Sapiens.

Consumer Sentiment Index

The consumer sentiment index in Ukraine is determined based on a survey of households across the country. During the survey, 1,000 individuals aged 16 and older are questioned.

Index values can range from 0 to 200. A value of 200 indicates that all citizens view the economic situation positively. An index of 100 means that the proportions of positive and negative assessments are equal. An index value below 100 indicates that negative assessments prevail in society.

It is worth noting that the cash dollar exchange rate increased by 11% over 2024, reaching 42 hryvnias. At the beginning of 2025, the rate rose to 43 hryvnias. Inflation for 2024 was 12%. It is expected to begin decreasing only in the second half of 2025.
