Зеленский сообщил, что Украина готова поставлять азербайджанский газ в Европу.

Ukraine has not rejected the transit of gas from Azerbaijan to Europe. However, it will not agree to resume the transit of Russian gas.

This was stated by the President of Ukraine, Volodymyr Zelensky, at a press conference with his Moldovan counterpart Maia Sandu, as reported by a correspondent from RBK-Ukraine.

According to the Ukrainian president, he discussed the issue of Azerbaijani gas transit with the leader of Azerbaijan, Ilham Aliyev.

"He has a very large production today - about 40 billion cubic meters. He uses about 14-15. He has significant exports. The export capacity is 25 billion cubic meters. We can utilize our infrastructure if countries in Europe need gas, and not Russian gas," said Zelensky.

He noted that Ukraine has never refused the opportunity to transit Azerbaijani gas through its territory.

"But I said that we will not transport Russian gas further. We will not allow Russians to profit. But to let Azerbaijanis profit? With pleasure. To help Slovaks? With pleasure. That's what we can do quickly. We can sign a contract, quickly set it up when we hear the signal from people in Tiraspol, and from people in Slovakia, and from people in other countries in Europe," the president added.

Recall that on January 1, 2025, Ukraine ceased the transit of Russian gas through its territory to Europe. This decision was made considering that the agreement between Ukraine and the Russian Federation expired. For more details - read in the RBK-Ukraine material.

One of the main buyers of Russian gas in Europe is Slovakia. Its Prime Minister, Robert Fico, reacted painfully to Ukraine's refusal to extend the transit. Back in October of last year, there were discussions about the possibility of replacing Russian transit with Azerbaijani gas. However, no contracts were finalized.

However, in December, Zelensky stated at a press conference in Brussels that for the transit of Azerbaijani gas, there needs to be confidence that Russia will not profit from it.
