U.S. President Donald Trump has reiterated that BRICS countries face a 100% tariff threat. This will occur if the coalition creates its own currency.
This information was reported by RBK-Ukraine, referencing a post by Trump on his social media platform, Truth Social.
According to the President of the United States, the notion that BRICS nations are attempting to move away from the dollar while the U.S. stands by and watches is over.
"We will demand commitments from these seemingly hostile nations that they will neither create a new BRICS currency nor support any other currency to replace the mighty U.S. dollar; otherwise, they will face 100% tariffs and may say goodbye to sales in the great U.S. market. They can go find another country to lo*e," Trump wrote.
He also emphasized that there is no chance that BRICS will replace the American dollar in international trade or anywhere else. In turn, any country that attempts to do so "should prepare for tariffs and say goodbye to America."
Recall that yesterday, U.S. President Donald Trump stated when he would impose the promised 25% tariffs on imports from Canada and Mexico. According to him, he will carry out his threat as soon as tomorrow, Saturday, February 1. The President also explained the reasons behind this decision.
"We will announce the imposition of tariffs on Canada and Mexico for several reasons. Number one - it’s the people who have surged into our country so horrifically and in such large numbers. Number two - it’s the fentanyl and all the other drugs that have come into the country. Number three - it’s the massive subsidies we give to Canada and Mexico in the form of deficits," Trump stated.
He also did not rule out that the tariff levels could increase over time.
