On February 6, U.S. President Donald Trump signed an executive order imposing sanctions against the International Criminal Court (ICC). The reason for this action was the court's investigation into Israel.

This was reported by RBK-Ukraine citing Associated Press.

The executive order states that the actions of the ICC create a "dangerous precedent." Currently, it is known that the sanctions include a travel ban for ICC officials entering the United States.

Associated Press explained and reminded that Israel is a close ally of the U.S. Recently, before Trump's second presidential term, the ICC issued an arrest warrant for Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu for his actions towards Palestinians in the Gaza Strip following the Hamas attack on Israel in October 2023.

Sanctions Against the International Criminal Court

It is worth noting that earlier, NBC News announced Trump's decision to impose sanctions on the ICC, stating that the order would also include financial and visa restrictions against court officials who aided investigations regarding U.S. citizens or their allies. The sanctions will also affect the family members of ICC staff.

Additionally, during his first presidential term, Trump emphasized that the International Criminal Court has no jurisdiction, legitimacy, or authority in the United States, and neither the U.S. nor Israel are parties to the Rome Statute.
