On January 25, U.S. President Donald Trump announced that he would invoke emergency powers to facilitate the operation of artificial intelligence (AI). He told reporters that the United States will be leaders in this field.
This was reported by RBK-Ukraine citing CNN.
"They require enormous energy, they need electricity at levels that no one has ever seen before. And we will be able to provide that. We will use emergency power to supply this electricity," he stated.
At the same time, Trump did not specify the exact duration of the emergency powers.
CNN notes that this is the second time in a week that the U.S. president has mentioned such a plan. The first mention was during a virtual address at the World Economic Forum in Davos on January 23, where Trump said that power plants should have their own capabilities.
"We will ensure that factories have their own electricity generation capabilities attached directly to their facility. They won’t have to worry about utilities," the U.S. president declared.
Recall that on January 21, Trump stated that three leading companies would make significant investments in AI infrastructure. This involved the establishment of a joint enterprise.
Trump announced that the companies would become partners and create a joint venture called Stargate. Each company will initially invest $100 billion, with plans to invest up to $500 billion in the coming years.
