Frontline update: Over 120 clashes reported, with the heaviest assaults by Russia occurring near Pokrovsk.

The situation at the front as of January 16 remains tense. Over the past day, 124 combat engagements have been recorded.

This is reported by RBK-Ukraine citing the summary from the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.

In the last 24 hours, aviation, missile troops, and artillery of the Defense Forces struck five areas of troop concentration, weapons, military equipment, four air defense systems, three command points, two drone control points, three artillery systems, and one ammunition depot of the enemy.

Situation by directions:

In the Kharkiv direction, the enemy launched two assaults on the positions of Ukrainian forces near Volchansk and Tikhoye.

The Defense Forces repelled the enemy's assault actions near the settlements of Kondrashovka, Zagryzovo, Topolya, and Petropavlovka in the Kupiansk direction, where five attacks by the occupiers occurred over the day.

During the past day, the enemy attacked 16 times in the Limansk direction. They attempted to breach the defenses of the Armed Forces of Ukraine near the settlements of Kopanky, Novosergiyivka, Tverdokhlebovo, Makeevka, Kolodyazi, Terny, and Grigorievka.

In the Kramatorsk direction, the occupiers attacked six times in the areas of Stupochki, Chasovoy Yar, and Predtechino.

The enemy carried out nine attacks in the Toretsk direction in the regions of Bely Gora, Toretsk, and Krymske.

In the Pokrovsk direction, defenders stopped 56 offensive actions of the aggressor towards the settlements of Baranovka, Mirolubovka, Luch, Novy Trud, Shevchenko, Udachne, Kotlyno, Petropavlovka, Starye Terny, Yantarnoye, Yelizavetovka, Lisovka, Zelenoye, Zverev, Uspenovka, Andreyevka, and Dachnoye.

The Defense Forces repelled five enemy attacks in the Novopavlivsk direction. The occupiers actively attempted to advance near the settlements of Vremenka and Konstantinopol.

In the Orekhov direction, the enemy attacked our defenders' positions four times towards Mala Tokmachka, Novoandriyivka, and Shcherbakov.

In the Seversk, Hulyaypole, and Dnipro directions, no attacks were conducted by the enemy in the past day.

In the Kursk direction, there were 15 combat encounters, the enemy carried out 13 airstrikes with 18 guided bombs, and conducted 340 artillery shellings, including 15 from multiple launch rocket systems.

In the Volyn and Polissya directions, no signs of the enemy forming offensive groupings have been detected.

Let us remind you that Pokrovsk is one of the main defense points of the Armed Forces of Ukraine in eastern Ukraine. As noted by the Defense Forces, the occupiers are avoiding urban combat in Pokrovsk and are trying to cut off supply chains to the Armed Forces of Ukraine. However, there is currently no talk of the city being semi-surrounded.
