Пентагон сообщает, что США и Япония укрепляют сотрудничество для противодействия стратегическим угрозам.

Japan and the United States have decided to strengthen their extended deterrence capabilities to promote regional stability and prevent conflicts from arising. This decision was prompted by increasingly serious strategic and nuclear threats globally.

This information was reported by RBK-Ukraine citing the Pentagon's website.

It is noted that based on accumulated discussions, the governments of Japan and the United States have formulated Guidelines on Extended Deterrence. This document enhances the existing consultation procedures within the alliance of the two countries, as well as communications related to extended deterrence.

"The guidelines also address strategic messaging for maximum deterrence and the strengthening of U.S. extended deterrence measures, supported by Japan's defense forces and resources. The alliance will continue to explore how to best ensure the effectiveness and reliability of extended deterrence forces and capabilities," the statement reads.

Deteriorating Global Security Situation

The global security situation continues to deteriorate. The Russian Federation is increasingly making aggressive statements indicating intentions to attack NATO member countries. This poses a threat of a major war in Europe.

German Defense Minister Boris Pistorius stated that NATO should prepare for war with Russia and not ignore this threat.

The British publication The Independent noted that the Alliance will not be able to protect European countries from the RF without the help of the USA.

The situation in Asia is also tense. China has long expressed intentions to seize Taiwan and annex the island as part of the PRC. The Taiwanese government has already conducted drills for government institutions in case of an invasion.

Chinese President Xi Jinping expressed hope that Japan will "properly resolve" the Taiwan issue.

Earlier, the USA, Japan, and South Korea conducted large-scale military exercises called Freedom Edge. This was prompted by the deepening cooperation between North Korea and Russia.
