The missions of the International Monetary Fund in Ukraine must operate under challenging circumstances and in a highly dynamic context.
This was stated by the mission chief, Gavin Gray, as reported by RBK-Ukraine citing the press service of the NBU.
According to the press service, Gray mentioned that based on the successful experience of the sixth review of the program, the IMF hopes for effective solutions and a successful outcome for the seventh review.
Additionally, NBU head Andriy Pyshny during a meeting with mission representatives stated that Ukraine's collaboration with the IMF has become a valuable asset not only for Ukraine but also for the fund. "This is an example of how to be effective in conditions of high uncertainty," he believes.
The NBU's press service reported that IMF representatives and the Ministry of Finance of Ukraine discussed with the IMF team the fulfillment of the EFF program conditions and the readiness for the seventh review, as well as the goals and expected outcomes of the mission. If the seventh review is successful, Ukraine will receive another tranche of approximately $918 million.
In the traditional inaugural meeting, the head of the NBU and the Minister of Finance of Ukraine, Serhiy Marchenko, along with their teams, participated alongside mission chief Gavin Gray, his deputy Trevor Lessard, the IMF's permanent representative in Ukraine, Prishila Tofano, and the IMF's executive director, Vladyslav Rashkovan.
The Ukrainian side assured the fund representatives that they are doing everything possible for the successful implementation of the EFF program, as its continuation is one of the key conditions for maintaining stable external financing.
We remind you that the IMF mission began working in Ukraine on February 20 for the seventh review of the EFF program. The four-year fund program with Ukraine for 2023-2027 is part of an international support package for Ukraine. The IMF currently estimates the funding amount at $148 billion.
