Scandal in Karpenko-Kary: Police have launched a criminal case against Bilous.

Law enforcement authorities have initiated a criminal case against a professor from the Ivan Karpenko-Kary Theatre University due to possible allegations of misconduct. This came after complaints from former students and the administration of the educational institution.

This information was reported by RBK-Ukraine citing the press service of the National Police in Kyiv.

According to sources from RBK-Ukraine within law enforcement, the case involves the artistic director of the Young Theatre, Andriy Bilous.

The authorities learned about the potential harassment within the educational institution through social media posts.

Both former students and representatives of the university's administration have approached the Shevchenkivskyi police department.

Investigators have opened a criminal case under Article 153 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine - sexual violence.

Currently, investigative actions are ongoing: police are interviewing students, graduates, faculty members, and administration representatives. The pre-trial investigation is still in progress.

Allegations against Bilous of sexual harassment gain publicity

In January, a former student reported sexual harassment by the professor of the Kyiv National University of Theatre, Cinema and Television named after Ivan Karpenko-Kary and the artistic director of the "Young Theatre," Andriy Bilous.

Andriy Bilous has not commented on the allegations, stating only that he has contacted the police. A few days later, the university sent a request to the National Police to investigate the information and provide a legal assessment. Until the investigation is complete, Bilous has been suspended from teaching duties.

Additionally, on February 10, protesters gathered in Kyiv outside the Young Theatre, demanding the resignation of director Andriy Bilous from his position as director and artistic leader of the theatre.
