Sweden has deployed 600 soldiers to the Russian border. This marks the country's first mission as part of NATO.
This information comes from RBK-Ukraine citing SVT.
The troops were transported to Latvia by sea under conditions of secrecy. They will be stationed there for a period of 6 months to secure the border with the Russian Federation.
The overarching goal is to "deter Russia from challenging NATO's territorial integrity."
It's worth noting that the last time Swedish troops participated in a peacekeeping mission in Europe was in the 1990s, when they were involved in operations in Kosovo.
As a reminder, it was previously reported that Sweden will join NATO's patrol mission in the Baltic Sea.
