Switzerland may grant immunity from arrest to the Russian dictator Vladimir Putin. This would occur if he participates in peace negotiations and meets with U.S. President Donald Trump on Swiss soil.

This information was reported by RBK-Ukraine citing The Times.

According to the publication, the Swiss government has the authority to make exceptions for peace talks and will ensure Putin's inviolability.

"Bern regularly informs Kyiv, Moscow, and Washington about its readiness to hold a new summit to seek peace in Ukraine," stated Nicolas Bideau, an official representative of the Swiss Foreign Ministry.

However, the country would be legally obligated to detain Putin under the International Criminal Court's arrest warrant if the Russian dictator participates in the summit.

A Possible Meeting Between Trump and Putin

Recently elected U.S. President Donald Trump mentioned that Russian dictator Vladimir Putin wishes to meet with him. He also added that this meeting will be organized.

Subsequently, Trump's future national security advisor Mike Waltz stated that he expects at least a call between Trump and Putin within the next few days or weeks. He noted that preparations for the meeting are ongoing.

At the same time, Switzerland expressed its readiness to host a meeting between Trump and Putin regarding the war in Ukraine. This involves a trilateral dialogue including Kyiv.
