Since the start of the war, the Russian army has lost over 794,000 soldiers on the front lines, according to the General Staff.
In the last 24 hours, from January 3 to 4, Russian invaders have lost 1,510 soldiers, 23 artillery systems, and a helicopter in the war against Ukraine.

The total combat losses of the enemy from February 24, 2022, to January 4, 2025, are estimated as follows:
- personnel - approximately 794,760 (+1,510) eliminated;
- tanks - 9,679 (+2) units;
- armored fighting vehicles - 20,093 (+23) units;
- artillery systems - 21,578 (+23) units;
- MLRS - 1,257 units;
- air defense systems - 1,032 units;
- airplanes - 369 units;
- helicopters - 331 (+1) units;
- operational-tactical UAVs - 21,356 (+107) units;
- cruise missiles - 3,006 (+3) units;
- ships/boats - 28 units;
- submarines - 1 unit;
- automotive vehicles and tank trucks - 32,843 (+73) units;
- special equipment - 3,675 units.
Situation at the Front and Russian Shelling
According to the Institute for the Study of War (ISW), Russian forces are advancing in three directions and are likely preparing an offensive towards the administrative border of Donetsk and Dnipropetrovsk regions.
During the night, the aggressor's military once again attacked Ukraine with Shahed kamikaze drones. Explosions were heard in Kyiv due to the operation of air defense systems.
Throughout January 3, the invaders shelled the positions of the Armed Forces of Ukraine over 4,000 times.
