Recently, Russian soldiers have increasingly been surrendering voluntarily. This trend is influenced by the nature of the combat engagements.
This was stated by the spokesperson for the National Guard of Ukraine, Ruslan Muzychuk, as reported by RBK-Ukraine referencing the Telegram channel "We are Ukraine".
According to him, this occurs more frequently during assault operations, especially when they take place in urban areas.
"The very nature of the combat engagement creates such conditions, particularly during assault operations in urban settings. Of course, it all depends on the specific nature of the combat - whether there were active battles and whether there were opportunities for the occupying forces to surrender," Muzychuk stated.
According to the General Staff, as of the morning of January 16, 124 combat engagements were recorded.
In the past 24 hours, aviation, missile forces, and artillery of the Defense Forces struck five areas of concentration of personnel, weapons, and military equipment, four air defense systems, three command points, two drone control points, three artillery systems, and one ammunition depot of the enemy.
