On the night of February 8, Russia launched 139 drones at Ukraine. The air defense shot down less than half.
This information was reported by RBK-Ukraine citing the Air Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
"On the night of February 8, the enemy attacked with 139 strike UAVs of the 'Shahed' type and various types of imitation drones in the directions of: Kursk, Oryol, Millerovo, Bryansk, Shatalovo," the statement said.
The aerial assault was countered by aviation, anti-aircraft missile troops, electronic warfare units, mobile fire groups of the Air Forces, and the Defense Forces of Ukraine.
"As of 09:00, the downing of 67 strike UAVs of the 'Shahed' type and other types of drones has been confirmed," the military added.
The air defense was active in Kyiv, Kharkiv, Poltava, Sumy, Cherkasy, Chernihiv, Kirovohrad, Vinnytsia, Zhytomyr, Khmelnytskyi, Zaporizhzhia, Dnipropetrovsk, Donetsk, and Odesa regions.
Additionally, 71 enemy imitation drones were locally lost.
The Russians attack Ukraine with drones every night. They often complement these with missiles, conducting combined assaults.
For instance, there were reports of a drone attack on Kyiv shortly after midnight on February 8. Air defense was active in the capital.
By morning, it became known that Russian occupiers attacked Sumy with drones. One of the drones struck a private house, leading to a fire.
