On the night of February 15, Russia launched 70 drones at Ukraine. The air defense managed to shoot down less than half of them.
This was reported by RBK-Ukraine citing the Air Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
"On the night of February 15, the enemy attacked with 70 strike UAVs of the 'Shahed' type and various types of imitation drones from the directions of: Orel, Millerovo, Primorsko-Akhtarsk (Russia), and Chauda (Crimea)," the statement said.
The aerial assault was countered by electronic warfare units and mobile fire groups of the Air Forces and Defense Forces of Ukraine.
"As of 09:00, the downing of 33 strike UAVs of the Shahed type and other types of drones has been confirmed," the military reported.
Another 37 enemy imitation drones were lost locally. Air defense operations were conducted in Mykolaiv, Kharkiv, Poltava, Dnipropetrovsk, Zaporizhzhia, and Donetsk regions.
Yesterday, on February 14, Russia attacked the shelter of the Chernobyl Nuclear Power Plant with a drone. The drone that targeted the station was equipped with a high-explosive warhead.
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky mentioned that the drone attacking the sarcophagus at the Chernobyl NPP flew at an altitude of 85 meters. This is why it was not detected by radar.
Later, RBK-Ukraine showed what the sarcophagus of the Chernobyl NPP looks like after the Russian strike.
By the evening of February 14, it became known that rescuers had localized the fire at the Chernobyl NPP. The radiation background is continuously monitored.
