From 10 AM on December 22 to 9 AM on December 23, the Russian Federation (RF) launched an attack on Ukraine using 72 Shahed-type drones and other types of unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs). Overall, the air defense managed to shoot down 47 of them.
This information was reported by RBK-Ukraine, citing the Telegram channel of the Air Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU).
The drones were launched from the Russian regions of Bryansk and Oryol.

As of 9 AM, the destruction of 47 drones has been confirmed in the Poltava, Sumy, Kharkiv, Kyiv, Chernihiv, Cherkasy, Zhytomyr, Khmelnytskyi, and Odesa regions.
Additionally, 25 enemy imitation drones were lost without negative consequences.
"In the Khmelnytskyi and Kyiv regions, private enterprises and civilian homes were damaged due to the Russian attack, with no casualties reported so far, and assistance is being provided to those affected," the Air Forces report.
Throughout the war, Russia has consistently carried out massive shelling of Ukrainian territory, employing a wide range of weapons, including missiles, artillery, kamikaze drones, and aviation. The primary targets include critical infrastructure, energy facilities, and densely populated areas, posing a serious threat to the civilian population. Such attacks often occur at night.
On the night of December 22, Russia attacked Ukraine with ballistic missiles and 103 drones. At that time, air defense managed to destroy 52 strike UAVs. Another 44 enemy imitation drones were lost without negative consequences.
