On the night of January 2, the Russian Federation (RF) launched 72 unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) of the Shahed type and other types of drones against Ukraine. The air defense (AD) successfully shot down 47 of them.
This information was reported by RBK-Ukraine citing the Telegram channel of the Air Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU).
The enemy launched the drones from the directions of Russian Bryansk, Oryol, Kursk, and Primorsko-Akhtarsk.

As of 08:30, the downing of 47 drones has been confirmed in the areas of Poltava, Sumy, Kharkiv, Kyiv, Chernihiv, and several other regions. Additionally, 24 drones were locally lost without negative consequences.
One of the launched drones is still in the airspace of Ukraine.
Since the beginning of the full-scale invasion, Russian terrorists have regularly resorted to strikes on Ukrainian territory, posing a serious threat to civilians. The enemy employs guided aerial bombs, missiles, drones, and artillery for attacks. In recent months, the Russians have almost daily conducted nighttime shelling.
For instance, on New Year's Eve, the Russians launched 111 drones from four directions. During the repulsion of the air attack, 63 drones were destroyed, and another 46 were locally lost.
