Russia launched 70 drones overnight: a look at how the air defense systems performed.

On the night of January 9, Russians launched 70 strike drones of the Shahed type and decoy drones against Ukraine. Aviation was involved in repelling the air attack.

This is reported by RBK-Ukraine citing the Telegram channel of the Air Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU).

The terrorists launched drones from the directions of the Russian cities of Millerovo, Oryol, Kursk, Bryansk, and Primorsko-Akhtarsk.

The air attack was repelled by:

• aviation;
• anti-aircraft missile troops;
• electronic warfare units (EW);
• mobile fire groups of the Air Forces;
• Defense Forces of Ukraine.

As of 9 AM, the downing of 46 drones has been confirmed across Poltava, Sumy, Kharkiv, Kyiv, Cherkasy, Chernihiv, Dnipropetrovsk, and Mykolaiv regions.

Additionally, 24 decoy drones were lost locationally without negative consequences.

As a result of drone debris falling, private homes were damaged in:

• Kharkiv;
• Sumy;
• Cherkasy regions.

Air Attacks Against Ukraine

Since the beginning of the full-scale war, the enemy has regularly attacked Ukrainian territory with air assault means, posing a serious threat to civilians. In particular, in recent months, terrorists have almost daily resorted to nighttime attacks.

For instance, on the night of January 8, the enemy attacked Ukraine with 64 strike drones of the Shahed type and decoy drones. At that time, air defense managed to destroy 41 enemy drones.
