On the night of January 11, Russians launched an attack on Ukraine with 74 drones from four directions. The air defense system shot down 47 of them.
This was reported by RBK-Ukraine citing Ukrainian Armed Forces Air Force.
"On the night of January 11, the enemy attacked with 74 strike UAVs of the 'Shahed' type and various types of imitation drones," the message states.
The occupiers launched their attack from the directions of Millerovo, Orel, Bryansk, and Primorsko-Akhtarsk.
The aerial assault was countered by anti-aircraft missile forces, electronic warfare units, mobile fire groups of the Air Forces, and the Defense Forces of Ukraine.
"As of 09:00, the downing of 47 strike UAVs of the 'Shahed' type and other types of drones has been confirmed," the military stated.
The air defense was operational in Poltava, Sumy, Kharkiv, Cherkasy, Chernihiv, Kyiv, Dnipropetrovsk, Zaporizhia, Kirovohrad, Kherson, and Mykolaiv regions.
Air raid alerts due to drone attacks were declared in Ukraine after 1:00 AM. Air defense was active in Kyiv and the region.
As a result of the downed enemy drones falling in seven regions of Ukraine, agricultural buildings, institutions, private homes, and vehicles were damaged.
Preliminarily, there were no casualties; the consequences are being addressed, and assistance is being provided to those affected.
