Russia is launching missile attacks on Ukraine, posing a threat to Kyiv and several regions.

On the morning of December 31, an air alert was declared in Kyiv and several regions of Ukraine due to the threat of enemy missile strikes. Missile launches were detected from the northern direction.

This was reported by RBK-Ukraine citing the Air Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine and the head of the Kyiv City Military Administration Serhiy Popko.

The military informed at 07:17 about the activity of enemy tactical aviation in the northeastern direction, and warned of the threat of the use of aviation strike capabilities.

The heads of regional military administrations in several areas reported the threat of strikes by guided aviation missiles X-59/69.

"Attention! Kyiv - missile danger! Head to shelters!" - stated the announcement from the head of the Kyiv City Military Administration Serhiy Popko on Telegram.

The Air Forces also reported detecting a high-speed target in the Kharkiv region, moving southward.

"High-speed target on the border of Sumy and Kharkiv regions, heading southwest! Guided aviation missile in Poltava region, heading towards Myrhorod! Myrhorod - take shelter! Guided aviation missile in Sumy region, heading towards Poltava region!" - reported the military.

At 07:42, the military reported that one missile was detected in the northern part of Poltava region moving west, and another one in Sumy region heading towards Poltava region.

Later, the Armed Forces announced that missiles were spotted in the northern part of Cherkasy region, on the border of Sumy and Poltava regions, as well as in the southern part of Chernihiv region.

At 08:27, the Air Forces reported the takeoff of the Russian MiG-31K fighter jet, which is a carrier of "Kinzhal" missiles. Because of this, along with the ballistic threat, the alert was extended across all of Ukraine.

It was previously reported that as early as the evening before, Russian occupiers launched kamikaze drones at Ukraine. Strike drones are still being detected in the airspace of the country.

Additionally, around three in the morning, there was a declared ballistic threat for several regions, and against the backdrop of the missile threat, explosions were heard in Kyiv, where air defense was active.
