The President of Estonia, Alar Karis, believes that his country will be able to avoid war.

This was reported by RBK-Ukraine citing ERR.

The Estonian President was asked about the fears among the youth regarding a potential war and the necessity to leave the country.

"I think the response should be: there is no need to leave anywhere because there will be no war. I am confident that our will to defend is quite strong. Research shows this. However, we do not wish to test this in practice," Karis stated.

According to him, Estonia would prefer not to test Article 5 of the NATO treaty or to see if people would flee, take up arms, and defend themselves.

"We do not want that, so we must do everything to ensure that no one comes here and that even the thought of it does not arise," he declared.

Diplomatic Relations with Estonia and Russia

Relations between Estonia and Russia have deteriorated due to support for Ukraine, increased sanctions against the Russian Federation, and Tallinn's rising defense expenditures. Moscow has responded with anti-Estonian rhetoric, expelling diplomats, and freezing agreements. Tensions have escalated over border demarcation, the dismantling of Soviet monuments, and support for Ukraine in NATO. Since August 8, Estonia has intensified customs controls at the border with the Russian Federation to prevent circumvention of sanctions.

We also reported that at the border with Estonia, Russians are trying to show that the Baltic countries are in the crosshairs and could be next. They have started to carry out large-scale provocations.
