On the morning of Monday, January 27, EU ambassadors will convene to discuss issues related to energy security. Their aim is to ensure that Hungary does not obstruct the continuation of sanctions against Russia.
This information was reported by RBK-Ukraine citing a post by journalist Rikard Juzvyak from "Radio Free Europe" on social media platform X.
"EU ambassadors will meet tomorrow (on Monday) morning to prepare a statement on energy security, which should enable Hungary to lift its objections to the extension of sanctions against Russia. Foreign ministers will later convene on the same day," Juzvyak wrote.
Recall that recently, Hungary's Foreign Minister Peter Szijjarto stated that the country could block the decision to extend sanctions against Russia if its demands are not met. He explained that Ukraine and the EU must provide guarantees that there will be no future obstacles to gas and oil supplies to Hungary.
