Following accusations from Azerbaijan, Putin reached out to Aliyev for the second time regarding the AZAL aircraft.

The Russian dictator Vladimir Putin called the leader of Azerbaijan, Ilham Aliyev. They discussed the issue of the plane crash in Kazakhstan.

This was reported by RBK-Ukraine citing the website of the Azerbaijani President.

"During the phone conversation, the heads of state continued to discuss matters related to the crash of the passenger plane of the closed joint-stock company 'Azerbaijan Hava Yollari'," the president's website states.

Azerbaijan Airlines Crash

Recall that recently a passenger plane crashed near the city of Aktau in Kazakhstan. Today, Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev stated that the plane was damaged on Russian territory and explained that the aircraft sustained damage as a result of ground fire.

At the time of the accident, there were 67 people on board. As a result of the crash, 38 people lost their lives, including the pilots.

Today, by Aliyev's decree, the deceased crew members of the plane were posthumously awarded the title of Hero of Azerbaijan.
