NATO member countries are psychologically unprepared for war with Russia. The only chance to defeat the Russian Federation is to do so in Ukraine.
This was stated by the advisor to the head of the President's Office, Mykhailo Podolyak, as reported by RBK-Ukraine citing an interview with the official on the Freedom channel.
According to him, the information that Russia will be ready to attack NATO countries in 3-5 years is most striking in its revelation of NATO countries' total psychological unpreparedness for war in general.
"They (NATO countries - ed.) have a significant amount of weaponry, which is much more effective, but they are not ready to use it. Consequently, if in 5 years Russia maintains the pace of militarization and authoritarianism it currently has, NATO stands no chance," he said.
Podolyak emphasized that NATO countries "will never and can never" be psychologically ready for war with Russia, and the Kremlin is fully aware of this.
"Therefore, Russia is gradually escalating the stakes in this war, slowly lifting all taboos, gradually abolishing all rules, particularly the rules of warfare. Accordingly, it is preparing a foothold, provided it does not lose in Ukraine right now. Thus, the only way to defeat the Russian Federation is to win through Ukraine, meaning Ukraine can achieve this," said the advisor to the head of the President's Office.
In Podolyak's opinion, if Ukraine fails to defeat Russia, "then NATO countries should prepare for extremely severe consequences."
Recently, Mykhailo Podolyak noted that Ukraine is capable of negotiating peace with Russia, but only through instruments of coercion. In his view, effective pressure on the aggressor requires economic and diplomatic unity.
The advisor to the head of the President's Office also stated that negotiations with the authorities of the aggressor state are impossible, as Russia has not yet been made to pay a sufficiently high price for the war.
Moreover, Podolyak believes that the delay by Western countries in providing Ukraine with weaponry and in allowing strikes with Western missiles on the aggressor's territory has helped the Russian army to restructure and prepare for further warfare.
