A new meeting in the "Ramstein" format is scheduled for next week with the new head of the Pentagon, Pete Hegseth. During the event, he will reaffirm Trump's commitment to ending the war in Ukraine through diplomatic means.
This was reported by RBK-Ukraine citing the website of the U.S. Department of Defense.
According to the announcement, Hegseth will leave Washington on February 10 for a week-long trip to Germany, Belgium, and Poland.
His first visit will be to Germany, after which he will head to Brussels (Belgium) to participate in a meeting of NATO defense ministers and the contact group on Ukraine's defense.
At his first NATO ministerial meeting with colleagues from allied countries, he will engage with allies and partners in the Alliance to discuss the need for increased defense spending by allies, strengthening European leadership, and expanding the defense industrial base on both sides of the Atlantic.
Additionally, at the "Ramstein" meeting, the first chaired by the United Kingdom, the head of the Pentagon will confirm U.S. President Donald Trump's commitment to a diplomatic resolution in Ukraine as soon as possible.
"He will also emphasize the necessity of enhancing European leadership in terms of security assistance to Ukraine," the U.S. Department of Defense website stated.
Recall that on February 6, Politico reported that the "Ramstein" meeting on Ukraine will take place on Tuesday, February 12, at NATO headquarters in Brussels.
Yesterday, Ukrainian Foreign Ministry spokesman Georgiy Tikhiy stated that Ukraine is thoroughly preparing for the next 'Ramstein' meeting. According to him, during the full-scale war in previous years, this format has proven its effectiveness.
