Russian invaders in the temporarily occupied Crimea are constructing various defensive structures near the military airport in Saki. This is an attempt by the enemy to protect their aircraft from potential strikes by the Ukrainian Defense Forces.
This information was reported by RBK-Ukraine, citing the Telegram channel of the partisan movement "ATEŞ".
Ukrainian underground representatives conducted reconnaissance in the area of the military airfield in Saki, located on the western coast near the city of Yevpatoria.
The agents of the movement noted the presence of special equipment and ongoing construction work there. Partisans pointed out that this "indicates that the occupiers are trying to build defensive structures for the aircraft."
Additionally, the underground operatives were able to document the exact number and types of Russian aircraft stationed at this airfield. Furthermore, data was collected on the enemy's air defense systems that are protecting the occupiers' aviation.
The partisans released the coordinates of the site: 45.099065258, 33.60950037
"Since 2014, the 43rd Separate Marine Assault Aviation Regiment has been stationed at the airfield, operating Su-24M and Su-30SM aircraft. Previously, the Ukrainian Defense Forces have repeatedly struck this facility successfully," representatives of the resistance movement against the occupation stated.
The partisans added that they have shared all collected information about the placement of Russian aircraft, radar stations (RLS), equipment, and personnel of the occupiers with Ukrainian defenders.
It is worth noting that this airfield, controlled by Russian invaders, located near the urban-type settlement of Novofedorivka in the Yevpatoria district of Crimea, has been subjected to strikes since August 2022.
Russian occupiers actively utilize this airfield, launching fighters and bombers to shell populated areas, particularly in southern Ukraine.
The Ukrainian Defense Forces conducted drone and missile strikes on the "Saki" airbase on September 21, 2023.
Moreover, on January 4, 2024, an operation was carried out to target Russian radar positions at the airfield in Saki and a munitions depot near the settlement of Grishino.
It was also reported that on July 26, a fire broke out at the military airfield "Saki" as a result of an airstrike in Crimea. Detonations of munitions were also heard. Later, the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine confirmed the airfield's damage.
