On Wednesday morning, a Tesla Cybertruck exploded outside the Trump Las Vegas hotel in Nevada (USA). As a result of the explosion, there is one fatality and several injuries, with police treating the incident as a potential terrorist attack.

This was reported by RBK-Ukraine citing ABC News and NBC News.

The Clark County Fire Department confirmed that they responded to a vehicle fire in the parking area of the Trump International Hotel (also known as Trump Las Vegas) at approximately 8:40 AM local time.

At a press conference, Clark County Fire Deputy Chief Thomas Touchstone stated that when firefighters began extinguishing the fire, they "realized at that time that there were several people around the vehicle with injuries."

As a result of the incident, the driver of the Cybertruck died, and seven others were injured. Officials have urged the public to stay away from the scene.

Police Suspect Possible Terrorist Act

ABC reports that investigators are unsure of the cause of the explosion. Specifically, they are trying to determine if there was something wrong with the vehicle itself or if an external factor triggered the explosion. Identifying the cause is a key focus of the investigation.

An official informed about the investigation told the publication that the Tesla Cybertruck was carrying a load of mortars resembling fireworks. Investigators are working to establish a motive and whether the driver intended to cause an explosion, and if so, why.

While the motive has not been determined and other causes remain possible, police are treating the explosion as a potential criminal act and possible act of terrorism. Evidence collection and investigation are ongoing.

Reactions from Elon Musk and Donald Trump's Son

Elon Musk, CEO of Tesla, whose company produces the Cybertruck, responded to the incident.

"The entire senior team at Tesla is currently investigating this matter. We will publish more information as soon as we learn anything. We have never seen anything like this," he wrote.

Just half an hour ago, he stated that the cause of the explosion had already been identified.

"We have now confirmed that the explosion was caused by very large fireworks or a bomb being transported in the bed of the rented Cybertruck, and it is not related to the vehicle itself. All vehicle telemetry was positive at the time of the explosion," he summarized.

Eric Trump, the son of Donald Trump and Executive Vice President of Trump Organization, also posted a message about the incident on social media.

"This morning, there was a report of an electric vehicle fire near the Trump Las Vegas hotel. The safety and well-being of our guests and staff remain our top priority. We sincerely thank the Las Vegas Fire Department and local law enforcement for their swift response and professionalism," wrote Donald Trump's son.

As a reminder, in October 2024, Elon Musk introduced new vehicles - a driverless taxi and a van without a driver. Tesla is confident that they will be 10-20 times safer than traditional vehicles.
