Strikes were launched in Kyiv and the Kharkiv region. The Security Service of Ukraine (SBU) uncovered an FSB espionage network.

The Security Service of Ukraine (SBU) has uncovered a spy network linked to the FSB. The perpetrators were monitoring the locations of the Defense Forces and adjusting the airstrikes of the Russian Federation.

This was reported by RBK-Ukraine citing the Security Service of Ukraine.

Law enforcement officials determined that the leader of the enemy cell was an active engineer at the municipal enterprise "Kyiv Metro".

According to the case materials, the official was recruited in 2015 in Moscow during a personal meeting with a FSB officer. His identity has already been established by cybersecurity experts from the Security Service.

The recruited agent was placed in "waiting mode" and "reactivated" after the onset of the full-scale war through a message in a messenger app.

He was immediately instructed to establish a spy network. The group's task was to gather information about the locations and movement routes of Ukrainian troops and their cargo, as well as to direct missile and drone attacks by the Russians.

It turned out that the resident involved his acquaintances in working for the enemy:

• a resident of Kharkiv, who left the military unit after mobilization and had previously worked for "Ukrzaliznytsia" for 10 years,
• a driver of international freight transport.

The deserter's task was to monitor the movement of military trains of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, while the driver was to leak the coordinates of checkpoints and Defense Forces units under the guise of business trips.

Additionally, it has been established that the agent's own brother and mother were also involved in the activities of the spy group.

The leader of the spy group received "necessary" geolocations from his accomplices, summarized them, and sent "reports" to his Russian curator.

According to the investigation, the resident personally directed missile strikes on Kyiv, as confirmed by intercepted conversations.

SBU officers documented the crimes of the Russian agency and arrested its resident in Kyiv. Concurrently, an agent-deserter was detained in Kharkiv.

During searches, mobile phones with evidence of working for the Russian Federation were seized from the suspects. Firearms were also found and sent for examination.

Investigators from the Security Service informed two detainees and two relatives of the enemy cell leader of their suspicion in connection with the committed crimes.

Decisions are being made regarding the selection of preventive measures for the detainees and the notification of suspicion for a third group member - the international freight driver, who is hiding abroad.

The perpetrators face a prison sentence of 8 years to life imprisonment with asset confiscation.

It is worth noting that earlier today, law enforcement officials reported suspicion against an active judge of the Economic Court of Kyiv. He made a decision in favor of the Ministry of Defense of Russia.

In addition to the judge, on January 18, the State Bureau of Investigation (DBR) and SBU reported suspicions against oligarch Vadim Novinsky.

At the same time, this morning, the SBU conducted searches at Max Nazarov's premises. He is a well-known former host who worked on the channels of oligarchs Viktor Medvedchuk and Yevhen Murayev.
