Ukrainian negotiators will not attend the meeting in Saudi Arabia that has been reported by the media. Currently, there is nothing on the table that can be discussed.
This was stated by the advisor to the head of the President's Office, Mykhailo Podolyak, as reported by RBK-Ukraine referencing the "We are Ukraine" channel.
"President Zelensky said that there are no Ukrainian negotiators representing Ukraine in Saudi Arabia. As of today, there is nothing to discuss at the negotiation table," Podolyak stated.
He emphasized that Russia is neither ready nor willing to negotiate. According to Podolyak, Russia only needs a formal negotiation table to achieve several outcomes:
Podolyak also expressed the opinion that no one will lift sanctions from Russia, as there is no interest in doing so, including from the United States. Specifically, because the restrictions allow for a redistribution of influence in certain global markets.
"I'm not even talking about political or value parameters, I'm discussing economic and financial parameters. The redistribution of global markets, especially in sectors like energy, allows the United States to gain significantly more returns from these markets. I doubt they will agree to lift sanctions, as they benefit from this redistribution - it yields higher returns," said the advisor to the head of the President's Office.
He also stated that he is not confident that negotiations with Russia at various levels are worthwhile.
"What is the goal? If the goal is to reset your reputation, then one could go down that path," Podolyak concluded.
Recall that recently, U.S. President Donald Trump announced that the States, Ukraine, and Russia would meet at the Munich Conference. However, this information was later denied by Zelensky's advisor, Dmytro Litvin, who noted that no discussions with the Russians are planned. Subsequently, Trump stated that the parties would allegedly hold a meeting in Saudi Arabia next week to conclude the war in Ukraine.
It is worth noting that yesterday, the President of Ukraine mentioned that he has planned visits to the UAE and has his own agenda. However, there was no information about the Ukrainian side arriving in Saudi Arabia.
A few hours ago, Politico reported that Trump's team is heading to Saudi Arabia to initiate Russian-Ukrainian peace negotiations. At the same time, Fox journalist Nana Sadzha reported that Ukraine has not received an invitation to the upcoming negotiations between the U.S. and Russia, and the meeting is reportedly set to take place next week.
